We are wanting Bricks and Glitter to be as accessible as possible, and sometimes (usually?) that costs money. In terms of ASL, we recognize the importance of not only ASL interpretation being available at as many events as possible, but also for hearing people within community to learn more (or even some!) ASL. All funds raised on this page will go towards ASL interpretation at events as well as a free Queer ASL 101 class (or two depending on what is raised!) which will take place at the beginning of the festival.
Bricks and Glitter is looking for volunteers for events happening in between July 19th and 29th. We need drivers, interpreters (ASL, Spanish, French), translators (Spanish and French), people to hang up posters and hand out flyers, childcare workers, and personal attendants. Bricks and Glitter is a community arts festival, celebrating Two-Spirit, trans and queer talent, ingenuity, caring, anger, and abundance
Being experienced community organizers, we know full-well that there is never enough money to create the truly beautiful project that we scheme up together. There are contingency plans for how to scale-down this festival, in the event that we are unable to reach our goal of $50K this year. So our priorities, for this inaugural year, are to create a sustainable model that can be improved upon in 2019. That being said, we greatly appreciate any funds you can contribute and any financial connections you can help broker. Lump sum institutional donations will be considered and collaborations on events or projects would be very exciting.
